A Glimpse of Heather

I'm Heather, a junior at Champlain College, orginally from Brattleboro, Vermont. I will be using this blog for my Contemproary Media Issues class.

One fun media experience I had over break was getting a new cell phone. With much contemplation (Andriod, BlackBerry or wait for the iPhone to come to Verizon), I decided to get the Droid Incredible. I've been playing around with different applications like my daily horoscope, PostSecret, Bejeweled, ect. It's interesting to see how many things have applications easily downloadable in seconds.

Here is a video about my new cell phone:

One thing I like about the 21st century media culture is the amount of information we are able to reach. Any piece of information can be looked up on the Internet at any given point. We have electronic devices that does most of the work for us.

One thing I don't like about our media culture is that the fact that we are too dependent on technology. People would be completely lost with out GPS, wouldn't know how to communicate with out cell phones, and would be bored without Internet.

I'm a mass communication major at Champlain College particularly interested in public relations, advertising, and marketing. I don't have a clear vision for the future, but who knows? I will probably end up working in a market that doesn't exist yet!
